The short version
WhatsForDinner has no accounts and no cloud. Your meal plan lives in a local database on your phone. We cannot read it, and neither can anyone else.
What stays on your device
Meal slots, dishes, ingredients and supplies, plan entries, pantry items, and preferences — all of it is stored in a local SQLite database on your device. There is no sync service and no server that holds a copy of your plan.
What leaves your device
Two things, and only two:
- Crash reports. If the native app crashes, a crash report is sent to Sentry so we can fix it. Reports are scrubbed of personal data before sending — we do not attach your name, your email, or the contents of your plan. Reports also include a coarse, city-level location that Sentry derives from your device’s IP address. Diagnostic logs carry a per-device identifier (a vendor ID, not an advertising ID) so related reports can be correlated; it identifies the installation, not you.
- Purchases. Subscriptions are processed by Apple. Our billing provider (RevenueCat) receives an anonymous app-generated ID — the same Support ID shown in Settings — never your email or identity.
What we do not collect
No analytics profiles. No advertising SDKs. No food-database queries — the app has no food database. Meal and shopping reminders are scheduled locally on your device and never touch a server.
